Welcome to The Website of Fired Up Design
My name is Jon Riley, I am a designer based in the Lake District in the North West of the UK. I hope you enjoy looking around the site, browsing my work and reading the journal, which describes what I am currently thinking about.
If you are looking for a designer to help you build your own site but you need some plain answers to questions first why not look through the frequently asked questions section. I wrote this page in an attempt to answer some of the common queries that people ask me when they become interested in building their own sites. I have found that the partnership between client and designer is vital when developing something complex like a website and at the end of the day "people buy people" so I have tried to give you an impression of how I like to work with my clients, plus an idea of what kind of person I am. With this in mind if you have a few minutes why not have a look at the "The Life of Riley" to see what I am up to!
Who is Behind Fired Up Design?
Fired Up Design is what might be called a "one man band", it's basically me, working with a small network of associates, skilled in different areas who are excited by design and web technology. I strive to create unusual fresh design for clients and people I like. I could pretend that I am a large scale design house with many employees working on hundreds of projects ... but that would be a lie! This may put some people off and be exactly what others are looking for, that's just the way it is. I firmly believe that there needs to be a "fit" between client and designer and I reckon the best way to do this is to talk or meet. I am really happy to chat to you to find out if there is a potential good fit, feel free to get in touch, no obligation I promise.
Over the last 5 years of building websites I have developed an informal but professional approach to working with my clients, I firmly believe that the best work is done when it is based on a strong relationship that is fun and at the same time very productive.
I am a huge Internet fan, completely self-taught in terms of design and have been working in the field for the last 5 years. In that time I have passed through all the usual phases; from developing simple flash sites and being amazed at getting a small red blob to move across the screen, through to my current work on dynamic e-commerce websites using CSS for layout. My style of design is also constantly changing; recently I have been inspired by some simple yet beautiful sites, have a look at these – if its what you like as well then I might be the right person to talk to!
